Basic Self Defense Techniques
The material covered in the self-defense seminar deals
with simple self-defensive tactics to meet the varying degree of threat
likely to be encountered by probation officers, child care workers and
detention staff. A more
specific overview of the seminar material would be: Simple Self-Defense
Techniques Refresher, How to Deal with Aggressive Dogs, Physical
Restraints, Edged Weapons Awareness and various grabs and whatever
questions participants may have.
The techniques shown will fall under Empty Soft Hand
Control on the Force Continuum.
Further, due to differences in everybody’s size, age and
Personal Mental Status, multiple techniques for each scenario will be
shown so that each participant will have different options that they can
employ depending on immediate threat, as well as personal comfort zones.
Due to the seminar material consisting of physical
techniques in escaping and restraining, it is recommended for
participants to perform the techniques on one another in a supervised
control manner to optimize the proper use. In short, it is imperative that
seminar participants participate during the seminar to achieve the best
results.
