Evaluating Juveniles for Competency to Proceed in Delinquency Matters
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the sixth annual juvenile competency evaluator training for mental health professionals who conduct juvenile forensic competency exams in Michigan. Training details are listed below for the MDHHS endorsed training curriculum. Registration for this training opportunity is aligned with statutory requirements/restrictions outlined in MCL 712A.1(o) and participants will be selected accordingly. MDHHS has once again contracted with the highly qualified experts at National Youth Screening and Assessment Partners (NYSAP) to provide this comprehensive training on Evaluating Juveniles for Competency to Proceed in Delinquency Matters. Qualified trainees are required to attend each session, complete a pre-test and receive a passing score on the post-test in order to receive a certificate of attendance. Continuing education credits are not provided for this training.
DATE: May 23-26, 2023
TIME: 8:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. (with optional Q&A from 12:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. each session)
LOCATION: Virtual
COST: Training is free; registrants are responsible for all costs associated with travel and incidentals. Funding is provided by the Mental Health Diversion Council.
REQUIREMENTS: Registration is required. This is a highly interactive training, so high speed internet connection, microphone and video/web cam capability are required for this training.
