
Strengthening Connections: Effective Tools and Strategies for Engaging Families in Juvenile Justice

Description and Schedule:
In this training webinar, Mr. Cole Williams will join us to discuss the importance of family engagement in the juvenile justice system, providing his experience in collaborating with courts to implement practical strategies and culturally-based practices to foster effective collaboration between the court and juvenile justice-involved families.

Several key topics will be addressed, including:
- Details on the parenting program Mr. Williams currently operates and has helped to implement in Ottawa, Genesee, and Kent Counties.
- The significance of collaboration with community stakeholders and the role of those partnerships in the program’s operation.
- The role of the judge within the program model.
- The current operation of the program, and its impact on the youth and families involved.
- Examples of methods and approaches that can help stakeholders work with parents and families in the juvenile justice system.
Intended audience: Judges, referees, court administrators, juvenile probation officers and caseworkers, law enforcement, detention home staff, school personnel, attorneys, social service providers, Juvenile Justice County Implementation Team members, and other juvenile justice stakeholders.

*Faculty will be available for an additional 30 minutes after the webinar ends to address questions.
CJE Credit Hours: This webinar qualifies for 1.00 CJE credit hour in Judicial Practice and Related Areas. This webinar will be recorded and available on the Judicial Learning Management System and the Child Welfare and Juvenile Justice Services division website to access at a later date.
